Eurobasket 2007 Eurobasket 2007 is closing to quarter semi-finals stage and this is a good opportunity to discuss how we could make money betting and trading basketball. While it is not a popular sport to bet or trade according to the liquidity and volume and in relation to horse racing and football, eurobasket provides some good spots for bettors or traders to take advantage of due to the increased interest.

Let's see some graphs, examine the odds and profit before the championship even ends...

Our first examination will take place on the Spanish team, which is the favorite one to win the trophy.

It seems like a good starting bet with an almost expected downtrend since the beginning, but in my opinion the traders who backed before eurobasket started must have had a difficult time in the middle of it. Backing at 2.15 and then see the odds drift to 2.34 isn't a pleasant thing to your mentality. Usually the favorite of a big tournament shows a steady fall in its chart and this isn't an exception. Spain has already secured a place in quarter finals and I expect to see the odds fall even lower (1.60 perhaps?). However have in mind that eventually in the following knock-out games Spain will not have such an easy task ahead and I can't see a basketball game at this stage trading at odds lower than 1.50. After all it's a tournament of the best European basketball teams.

Then comes Lithuania, my all-time favorite basketball team.

I always liked their style of play. The graph isn't actually showing much and I'll be surprised to hear that someone has already won some money trading it as the winner of the tournament. However, it can show a nice profitable situation from now on if they manage to do well in the following games since they trade quite high (7.60).

Russia comes as a surprise.

I always regarded Russia as a very good team and I am astonished how high they traded in the beginning! 15.0-25.0 fell down to 7.60! A very good movement and we can also see the impact yesterday's game against Spain had on the odds.

Finally we see Greek team make it into the quarter semi finals.

Eurobasket 2007 - Greece

The most steady graph we have seen up to now and seems like no one believes they can be victorious in this year's Eurobasket. However, if they can keep scoring late buzzer beaters and making comebacks like latest game against Croatia, we are for a big surprise. Logic dictates though that drifting will continue and Greece won't win the Eurobasket 2007 Cup.

Best of luck in your trading/betting in Eurobasket 2007.
