As if Pokerstars.com hasn’t been my favorite poker room, they continuously prove me they are at the top of the competition. I received the following email from them today:
We have deducted 50,000 FPPs from your account and applied the 200,000 VPP level reward bonus. Once you have earned 10,000 base FPPs, the bonus money will be released to your Pokerstars account. Please note that you have to earn the FPP within 120 days.
Thank you for being a Supernova on PokerStars.
Mind you, I haven’t yet reached 200,000 VPP required for the bonus!
I have been playing at Pokerstars for over 2 years, although I wasn’t a fan of them during my first steps playing poker. I must have not liked their lobby design. I remember that the first poker room I registered in was Partypoker. However, back in 2005 Partypoker was really the king of poker rooms. They had an enormous number of players registered and they claimed to be the largest online poker room of the world, which of course was true. Then came the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) - prohibits the transfer of funds from a financial institution to an Internet gambling site, with the notable exceptions of fantasy sports, online lotteries, and horse/harness racing - and Party saw their share value fall dramatically (October 2007) while players left for Pokerstars and Full Tilt.
(Note: We can see the stock exploding in May and hitting new highs. Why? Online Gambling Operators Permitted Back in the US, Party Stock Rises on U.S. Settlement Rumor and US Settlement with Party at 2+2 forum)
Since then I mainly play at Pokerstars and have been a Supernova player for a year, while trying to achieve the next level, Supernova Elite. Admittedly I certainly can’t make it into Elite this year but at least have gained a pile of frequent player points (FPPs) which can be converted into cash (in fact that equals to 28% rakeback). Being a Supernova has a couple of more advantages, one of which is the milestones bonus:
-
$2,000 at 200,000 VPP
- $3,000 at 300,000 VPP
- $4,000 at 400,000 VPP
- $5,000 at 500,000 VPP
- $6,000 at 600,000 VPP
- $8,000 at 800,000 VPP
As of yesterday, I had won 196,000 VPP and was closing down the first bonus. Imagine my surprise upon receiving Pokerstars’ email! Yes, I would hit the milestone bonus today or tomorrow but it’s always nice to see this kind of action from a company. I guess they have a system which alerts them whenever a player is about to hit any bonus and they award the bonus just a bit earlier. In my opinion that’s a great way to improve customer service at no cost.
