Wednesday 4 June:Nowadays I'm playing online poker at Pokerstars.com. My favorite levels range from 200NL to 600NL. I usually play the big tournaments each Sunday and the freerolls available for Supernova players but I haven't scored big lately. You can check my Tournament Performance Gallery.
You can find me playing in the Poker Rooms using the following aliases:
Apparently
yes! Or so it seems. Today I took a look at Bet Angel's web page and I noticed
a banner in the right column with the title: "2008 £1k to £100k Challenge".
That rang a bell since Adam Todd from RacingTraders
had attempted such a challenge in the past. So I decided to visit the link
wondering what kind of blog I will bump into this time. And I must say, it's a simple
but VERY promising blog.
Since I'm not performing well at poker, I thought to give the whole sports trading thing another go. So, I traded yesterday the UK Horse Racing markets for about 2 hours and made around EUR 90. That is nowhere near my last year's performance and I'm certain there are other betfair traders making ten times that amount. However, I'm still satisfied with the result for the time being and given 2007 hasn't treated me so nicely, I'll be happy to make that money on a steady daily basis.
Here's the screenshot and some more details about my trading style at the moment.
It's been 3 weeks since I stopped trading the horse racing markets in Betfair. I decided to give it another go yesterday. I don't know if I will trade daily again, but it sure was a nice feeling returning to the trading scene!
I have also looked into my betting strategy once more, since the database is quite big for evaluation and testing. That resulted to a modified betting method which I have applied since Saturday with rather good results.
That was a good day for my trading. It was done easily and quietly with no big wins or losses. While I traded and played poker at the same time, my performance was not influenced at all and that is an improvement for my standards. I did also very good in poker but sports betting lost for another day. I'm really looking forward to being a very good poker player and abandon my betting but not trading. Trading fixed odds in Betfair was, is and will be invaluable to me since it got me where I stand today (ok, blackjack really got me off with my initial bankroll of EUR1,500, but I prefer trading thousand times more than playing in a casino).
The one thing you will probably notice is that I didn't start trading on time but rather more than an hour later. The reason was that it was a very good day in poker yesterday, and specifically in multitable tournaments. I reached the final table in 4 tournaments while cashed in 6! However, they weren't expensive tournaments ($2-10 buy-ins) so didn't make a lot. However, I continued playing while I traded the horse racing markets and we all know that this is not a good thing.
Sports betting did really bad. Let's see yesterday's trading screenshot...
