According to the Greek law, poker is not allowed to be played in Greece neither in homes nor in land-based casinos. Of course, online gambling is also not allowed but that is another story. However there are rumors lately that imply the introduction of this card game to the Greek casinos. Yet, these rumors are heard for quite a few years, so that may mean nothing.
A glimmer of hope arised though when two advertisements made their appearance in Sunday's magazines. Both of them advertize 2 famous casinos (Porto Carras in Sithonia, Chalkidiki and Regency Casino in Athens and Thessaloniki) using poker terms. The first one shows a man holding 4 of a kind (Aces to be precise) while the second one uses the term "I Call". Additionally, there is also a radio advertisement promoting Regency casinos which talks only about poker. Perhaps, the time we Greeks will be able to host a big live poker tournament is closer than ever.
