Tight play wins in online poker: False!

Online poker players who play tight and aggressively will make money in the long run according to general belief. I myself played tight online poker for many months and that is my main playing style in online texas holdem poker which made me enough money to continue playing. I tried playing very loose the past 3 days and managed to make more money than playing tight. After all it is known that you will make more money playing a different style than the one you are used of!

During the weekend I played 30/26 at 400NL of Pokerstars, a truly LAG (loose aggressive) style of play no doubt. I was playing online texas holdem poker at 8 tables which is my usual multitabling skill, as I find quite difficult to multitable more than that. I usually play 22/18 or something like this depending on the opponents or my mood and although I still win at stakes up to 2000NL, I thought to give a loose style of play a go. Winning more than 13BB/100 in about 10,000 hands was enough to win $10,000 in 3 days, which meant 1$/hand.

So, although TAG style in online poker is the most preferable style of play and surely the winning style of play in most cases, playing LAG is also profitable playing in middle stakes of online poker ($400-1000NL). However, I don't know if that is the case in small stakes and below, say $50-100NL.
