Wednesday 4 June:Nowadays I'm playing online poker at Pokerstars.com. My favorite levels range from 200NL to 600NL. I usually play the big tournaments each Sunday and the freerolls available for Supernova players but I haven't scored big lately. You can check my Tournament Performance Gallery.
You can find me playing in the Poker Rooms using the following aliases:
Let's
assume there is a professional gambler named "Bob". He has designed his own
betting strategy by improving a strategy he purchased online, he has also
looked into trading where he is more than successful and at the same time he
has studied Texas Hold'em Poker so well that he manages to show significant
profits over the past months. The problem is Bob has only one life, how can he
make most of it?
Since my
last blog entry almost 2 months ago, I have been playing poker a lot and also
started a new website with a friend of mine. I have lost interest in publishing
my poker results apart from the tournament ones, because I don't see how that
would be beneficial for my blog's readers. I'd rather post informative articles
which would be useful for anyone who wants to improve his poker skills or for
any newbie discovering this game nowadays.
I also met
a couple of Betfair employees who happen to have become good friends of mine
and we get to meet now and then. This time we didn't discuss something specific
but we more or so talked about the latest happenings in the gambling area.
Maybe it's because I have stopped trading the UK Horse racing markets in Betfair
and I have also abandoned all my betting activities, since poker consumes the
vast majority of my time. That may come as a surprise for most of my blog's
visitors, who keep on emailing me asking for betting or trading advice.
Certainly I haven't forgotten the gains or pitfalls of sports betting or
trading and I believe I can be of some help to anyone who tries them. However,
playing poker for so many hours and having read a lot of forum topics while
watching innumerous coaching videos mean that I have fresher knowledge and
information about poker than trading.
So your betting system performs pretty well, you are completely satisfied by your winnings but you are worried about the common losing runs you experience from time to time. Should you worry? What is the maximum expected losing run you would encounter in the future? How many bets should you be happy to lose in a row? It is always better to be prepared for the expected events, since the unexpected ones are rare after all.
Lots of people keep asking about the betting system they should follow and how much risk they should put their bankroll in. If you do just a little research, you'll keep bumping into the same percentage over and over again. It seems that 2% is a magical number. Or maybe not? What is a simple explanation of that percentage? And say I'm convinced of not risking more than 2% of my bankroll, what about my staking plan? Should my betting be influenced by the odds or not?
Today we'll talk about the capital someone needs in gambling and how much money should risk in a single bet. The following questions are 3 of the most common ones, although it is relatively easy to be answered.
