I received an email today by a journalist from a very well known Greek newspaper which made me wonder how popular political betting is. The 2008 US presidential election is in 2 weeks and online betting on Obama or McCain has exceeded 10 million euros just in the Betfair markets. I guess people are not only interested in who the next US President will be but also betting on their own political prediction.

Χαρακτηριστικό είναι ότι για να ξεκινήσει να φορτώνει την αρχική σελίδα ο Mozilla (ή ο Explorer) χρειάζονταν 20 περίπου δευτερόλεπτα για να περάσει το στάδιο του «Website found, waiting for reply).

Apparently the search engine optimization I've been doing lately has led to an increase of my sports blog's page rank from 3 to 4 today! Although I didn't buy any text links from top search engine ranking websites with higher ranking, the link exchange with gambling sites and blogs of similar pagerank certainly helped my sports blog. Additionally, my Alexa link popularity increased while the traffic rank seems steady below 400,000. I managed to improve my page rank after studying a lot about search engine rankings, keywords, seo tools and reciprocal link exchange. What does this increase of my page rank mean though?

SEF links help your blog move up in Google search results, seem nice to your readers' eyes and make a point about the subject of your blog post. So they are important enough to make me wonder today whether I should change some core elements of my blog or not. And by that I mean the names of sections and categories and having them appear into the URL link. Up to now I have allowed only the categories to be included in the links but I am seriously considering to modify the whole link structure of my blog and get probably a little more traffic. Should I bother or is it really not worth it?

Blog hosting is a serious issue regarding a blog’s traffic. A fast and reliable server is preferred so that the visitors surf your blog comfortably. Lately my gambling blog had trouble concerning the loading speeds and I decided to change its servers and also upgrade from Joomla 1.0.15 to the new Joomla 1.5.4. So, I moved the blog and changed my hosting company. It sure wasn’t that easy and since it was my first time of moving a website I came across some difficulties. However the result is very promising.

On 1st of October 2007, the first edition of Jimmakos.com Blog Carnival will be out! Submit your content now!
But, wait a minute. What is a Blog Carnival?
From BlogCarnival.com:
"A Blog Carnival is a particular kind of blog community. There are many kinds of blogs, and they contain articles on many kinds of topics. Blog Carnivals typically collect together links pointing to blog articles on a particular topic. A Blog Carnival is like a magazine. It has a title, a topic, editors, contributors, and an audience. Editions of the carnival typically come out on a regular basis (e.g. every monday, or on the first of the month). Each edition is a special blog article that consists of links to all the contributions that have been submitted, often with the editors opinions or remarks.
There is so much stuff in the blog-o-sphere, just finding interesting stuff is hard. If there is a carnival for a topic you are interested in, following that carnival is a great way to learn what bloggers are saying about that topic. If you are blogging on that topic, the carnival is the place to share your work with like-minded bloggers."
