I recently just started working with Texas Calculatem and I immediately noticed that the software is very similar (if not identical) to Calculatem Pro. Texas Calculatem is software designed to improve the skills and knowledge of its users so that they can become long term successful poker players. Texas Calculatem has all the features a player could want and it will teach you the fundamentals of the game; it's almost as if there is a real life professional giving you tips and advice. Texas Calculatem displays your whole cards on its software and will tell you what you ‘should' do in the hand whether that is call, fold, or raise. It bases its decision on your position on the table, the hand you are holding, and also it does take into account the pot odds within the hand. I may be wrong on this but I would imagine there many players out there who just go through the motions when they play and they don't really think about anything else besides the hand they are holding. With Texas Calculatem on your side this will make you think about what is going on the table with a little more depth to it. Texas Calculatem has many great features so allow me to discuss them for you.
Based on what I already mentioned (your hand, your position and pot odds), this software shows you your hand rank, the odds you'll hit your hand/draw, and it shows you your hand strength throughout the hand. It also has different calculation speeds available because certain speeds provide better accuracy instead of calculating the numbers as quickly as possible. Other options available to the user consist of showing cards after you have folded, the option to have your deck in 4 colors, blinking advice that will catch your attention and the ability to check for updates upon startup just so you don't have to go looking for them. You can also display your odds in the format you comfortable with and it could be percentage, ratio, or chances (1 in 4). All of these options are well optional so you design it to fit your personal preferences.
Other features you can use to fit your personal preference is the ability to adjust the ‘advice' on post and pre flop play. Meaning if you prefer to play aggressive then the program will adjust to that or if you insist on playing ‘tight' then the program will adjust to that as well. You can also decide what starting hands you want to play by the position you are in. For instance if you are under the gun and you only want to play the top 5% of starting hands then the software will allow to do so and advise you throughout the tournament accordingly. Like the other software I have been looking at, Texas Calculatem doesn't adjust to human tendencies and will not pick up on the play of other players. It will stick to your hand, your position, pot odds and other features without taking into account how others players are playing. I would advise anyone to try this software because we can all learn something from Texas Calculatem. You can check out more information at calculatem.com. Run good my friends.
